Spring! (finally)

So it's been entirely too long since I've posted, but that is the way of it these days.  Weeks and months are flying by, leaving me running to catch up.

Spring has finally arrived to Minnesota, at least I hope so.  It's not often I've found myself digging out my boots in the middle of April even here.  Today, though, the skies are sunny and there is a promising warmth in the air.

I'm not much of a winter person, so by the time March and April roll around I'm usually chomping at the bit for a taste of warm weather.  I need the change of seasons to inject a bit of energy in my life, to remind me that time is moving on with or without me, and I'd best enjoy it while I can.

This spring and summer promise to be good for my writing.  Later this month I'll be in Madison, WI for WisCon, a feminist science fiction and fantasy gathering.  I've attended this con with several of my fellow Death Pixies for the past two years and it's begun to feel like going home.  The people are fabulous, the discussions are earnest and invigorating, and Madison has some of the Best Food Ever.  I always come home with a full belly and a full mind ready for another year of writing insanity.

In August I will be venturing out to WorldCon in Denver, CO.  This is my first WorldCon, and I have no idea what to expect.  Still, I'm very much looking forward to it.  It's a very motivating factor for me as well - the competitive side of me really wants to be say that I've got a novel ready for publication, just looking for a buyer/agent.  With these two events bookmarking the next few months it should be easy to keep my focus on writing.  Plus, there's nothing better than sitting in a sunny spot with a glass of iced tea, writing your arms off.
